2019 sees the 40th anniversary of the 2 Tone revolution that swept the UK revitalising the dance grooves of traditional SKA music of the 1960’s with the Post-Punk energy with iconic bands such as The Specials, Madness, The Selecter, Bad Manners, The Beat and The Bodysnatchers. In 1979 Britain turned black and white in a 2 Tone revolution.
To mark this moment the UK’s best 2 Tone tribute act SKA FACE are taking to the road with good friends DADNESS to bring back the heady days of the initial 2 Tone Tour from 1979, featuring the classic hits from the bands that changed the face of music forever.
Revitalising the Ska and 2 Tone classics of The Specials, Madness, The Selecter, The Beat and Bad Manners plus many others from the late 70s and early 80s, Ska Face sparked a 2 Tone revival across the north of England. They very quickly established themselves as the UK’s leading Ska and 2 Tone tribute band, headlining at the Formula 1 British Grand Prix as Silverstone twice in the last 2 years and the band regularly travel up and down the country, delivering their message to venues across the UK from Blackpool to Batley, Preston to Pontefract and Coventry to Camden with everywhere in between. There are a number of 2 Tone tribute bands out there, but very few share the authenticity energy and drive of Ska Face.
In fact, founder of both 2 Tone Records and The Specials Jerry Dammers was highly impressed with the Ska Face performance when he joined them for a gig June 2013, commenting that he had not witnessed such energy and performance since the early days of The Specials. Former Specials lead guitarist Roddy ‘Radiation’ Byers has accompanied the boys on stage regularly over the past 6 years and the band have supported many of their 2 Tone idols on a number of occasions, including Pauline Black’s The Selecter, Bad Manners, The Beat, The Neville Staple Band.
The tour is complimented with the addition of Dadness, a classic tribute to the Nutty Boys themselves. Formed by former members of Ska Face, Dadness perform the hits of Madness from ‘Night Boat to Cairo’ and ‘Baggy Trousers’ through to the singalong anthems ‘It Must Be Love’ and ‘Our House’.
Avoid disappointment and beware of cheap imitations, if you want authentic 2 Tone Tribute Tour then now is the time to book Ska Face and Dadness for the tribute show to the original hits of the acts from 1979.
